Obituary of Jacqueline Bogardus

Jacqueline “Jackie” Bogardus, 58, of Durham passed away on Wednesday November 3, 2021 at Ghent Rehabilitation & Nursing Center following a long illness. Born in Catskill on February 10, 1963, Jackie was the youngest of five children of Eva (Solian) Macko and the late Andrew H. Macko of Freehold. A 1981 graduate of Greenville High School, Jackie attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She enjoyed working with people and had careers in both real estate and banking. Jackie was known as an outstanding cook and top-notch decorator. She loved watching old episodes of I Love Lucy and collecting Barbie dolls. On October 29, 1983, she married the love of her life, Brian V. Bogardus, who predeceased her on May 30, 2012. Together, they enjoyed camping, barbecues and spending time with friends and family. In addition to her mother, Jackie is survived by two brothers, Andrew J. Macko (Patricia) and Paul J. Macko; sisters, Gloria Savino (Joseph) and Mary “Missy” Ferrer (Daniel); mother-in-law, Karolyn Vincent Bogardus; and many nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her father and husband, she was also predeceased by her father-in-law, Jonas Bogardus. Services, under the arrangement of A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, will be on Tuesday November 9th at 11am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, NY 12083. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date in the family plot of the Greenville Cemetery. A celebration of Jackie’s life will also be held at a later date. Don’t think of her as gone away, her journeys just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting, from the sorrow and the tears, in a place of comfort where there are no days and years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much.
