Obituary of Erna F. Hippe

SOUTH CAIRO – Erna F. Hippe, 76, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Greene Meadows Nursing & Rehab Center in Catskill. She was born in Catskill on June 20, 1945, a daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie German Roe. Erna resided in Manorkill with her family, until moving to South Cairo many years ago. She was a member of the Sandy Plains United Methodist Church in South Cairo. Erna is survived by her husband, Richard C. Hippe; her daughter, Carla Martin; her sister, Lucy (George) Gallagher of Kingston; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Erna was predeceased by her sister, Thelma Blakeslee; and her cousin, Elsie Smith, who lived with the family and was like a sister to Erna. Relatives and friends are invited to call at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, on Saturday, October 2nd at 11 a.m., and are welcome to remain for the funeral at 12 noon with Rev. Ann Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Manorkill Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110 will be appreciated.
