Obituary of Robert P. Lewis

WESTERLO – Robert P. Lewis passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. He was born at home in Rensselaerville to the late Paul and Catherine Decker Lewis. Bob was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School. He worked for 35 years at NYSDOT, first as a draftsman, and retired as a construction inspector. He was a committeeman for Boy Scout Troop 42 when his sons were young. Bob was a member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company and the Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Norton Hill Wildlife Club, Catskill Elks Lodge 1341, and the Northern Riders Snowmobile Club. Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Briggs Lewis; five children, Kevin (Rosemary) Lewis, Kimberli Lewis, Kyle (Nichole) Lewis, Jeremy (Jody) Lewis, and Justin (Loretta) Lewis; eight grandchildren, Tucker (Jessica) Lewis, Russell Lewis, Seth (Shelbi) Rippel, Logan (Katelyn) Rippel, Danel Rippel, Dayna Lewis, Bethany (Cody) Lewis, and Chloe Lewis; one great-grandson, Jacob Thomas Meyer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary (David) Hubbard, Tom (Adrienne) Briggs, Anne (Bob) Stackrow, Ellen Miller, Nora (Donald) Hempstead, Harold Briggs; many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Catherine (Harry) Vinehout; and by Joyce Lewis, the mother of Kevin, Kimberli and Kyle. Bob has been cremated privately. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place on Sunday, October 3rd from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Shamrock House, 2388 State Route 145, East Durham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., or to St. Peter’s Cancer Care Center, 317 South Manning Blvd., Suite 220, both in Albany, NY 12208 will be appreciated.
