Obituary of Eugenie M Clark

Eugenie M. 'Jean' Clark (89) of Greenville, NY passed away at The Pines in Catskill, NY on Aug. 6, 2012. She was born in Rockville Center, NY on Sept. 11, 1922 daughter of the late William & Mabel (Newman) Maccabee. She was a graduate of South Side High School in Rockville Center, Nassau Secretarial School in Freeport, NY and Empire State College in Albany, NY with a BA in Fine Arts. She served in the US Woman's Army Corps during World War II and was Honorably Discharged as a CPL receiving the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Meritorious Unit Service Plaque. Her secretarial career included Sperry Gyroscope, Greenville Central School District, and NYSUT. She had been a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church. An artist in watercolors and pastels, she was a member of the Tuesday Night Sketchers with friends Stanley Maltzman, Irene Powell, Dot Chast, Susan Story, Bunny Detlefsen, Rita Buttiker and others. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting and could be found watching her favorite TV station WMHT. She was predeceased by her husband Harry Clark in 1962, and good friend and neighbor Marylyn Mahoney. Surviving are two daughters, Joanne Shay (William) of Clifton Park, NY; Linda Gaylord of East Hampton, CT; grandchildren Kathryn Gaylord and Raymond Gaylord (Marissa), and Kate's two sons. The family would like to thank the staff of The Pines and Jean's friends who visited her there. As to her request all services will be at the convenience of the family.
