Obituary of Mary M. McGahan

Mary Margaret McGahan, 56, of East Durham, N.Y. passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021. Mary was born in Hudson, N.Y. on November 13, 1964, daughter of the late Otto and Maxine (Wimmer) Ohle, who owned and operated the O'Neill House in East Durham, N.Y., a family operated business for over 50 years. She was predeceased by her father, Otto, mother, Maxine and her brother, Stephen Ohle. She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years and high school sweetheart Tom McGahan. Together they have three children, their daughter Victoria and her husband Jonathan, their daughter Brooke, and their son Thomas. She leaves behind her two siblings, sister Theresa and her husband Jack, her brother Timothy, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary cherished her children and family above all else. Mary worked for many years in the travel industry as a flight attendant in Hartford, C.T. and travel agent with AAA Travel in Albany, N.Y. and Hudson, N.Y. She enjoyed traveling Europe, Asia, Central America and North America throughout her life. Mary found great success in recent years working as a realtor with Anne Lafferty Realty in East Durham, N.Y. East Durham was her home for most of her life and she adored all who live here and all those who visited the area. Mary enjoyed spending time with her treasured family, her many lifelong friends and her adoring golden retrievers. She will be remembered for her smile, her spirit and as a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 22nd from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, July 23rd at 12:30 p.m. in Our Lady of Knock Shrine, 2052 State Route 145, East Durham, followed by private cremation.
