Obituary of Lynn Kramer

Lynn Kramer, Athens, NY. ATHENS – Lynn Kramer passed away peacefully at home on Monday evening, July 5, 2021. Born in 1952 in Queens, NY, Lynn knew from an early age that she eventually wanted to move to the country and grow some plants and raise some animals. She was a great believer in Pete Seeger’s advice to settle on a piece of earth and protect it. She found her place and settled there in the Town of Athens 20 years ago with her husband, Hal Brodie and son, Sam Brodie. She raised sheep, a cow, chickens, ducks, rabbits and several idiosyncratic cats. She applied permaculture principles and painstakingly tended her rocky piece of land, and developed something unique and beautiful. She loved the earth, its animals and its plants and did her best to protect them. Lynn was a devoted and creative wife and mother, and consistently challenged her family and friends to think in new ways about food, health, society and the environment. She danced, she sang, and sometimes she laughed until she cried. Besides her husband and son, Lynn leaves behind Sam’s partner, Talia; Lynn’s sister, Ilene; her niece, Maiysha, her grand nephews, Lohan and Jahsaia and many cousins, in-laws and friends whom she loved and who loved her. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, July 8th at 1 p.m. in the Stanton Hill Cemetery, County Route 51, Hannacroix. Condolence page is available at ajcunninghamfh.com.
