Obituary of Mary Louise Green
EAST DURHAM – Mary Louise Green, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 17, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Frackville, PA on September 7, 1948, daughter of the late Daniel and Mabel Ebert Nevins. She was raised and educated in Richmond Hill, Queens. Mary married her late husband, Daniel Green at age 19, and together they ran a plumbing business in Queens. They moved upstate to the Catskills in 1983. Mary was a caregiver for her family, as well as professionally, before her retirement. She was a devout Catholic, and communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham. Mary was an avid gardener, and loved all of God’s creatures. She enjoyed visiting casinos, going to auctions, collecting Hummels and antiques, traveling on cruises, visiting Gettysburg, and spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Daniel Green, and Kimberly (John) Monahan; brother, Harry (Regina) Nevins; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Amy, Jennifer, Andrew, Matthew, and Daniel; great-nieces and great-nephews; her best friends, Jean Wallace and Linda Suwara; and her beloved canine companions, Coco and Sullivan.
Mary has been cremated privately. Memorial calling hours will be Thursday, June 24th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Memorial Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, 2052 State Route 145, East Durham.
