Obituary of Patricia M. Chapman

GREENVILLE - Patricia Margaret (Slattery) Chapman returned to Heaven on Saturday, June 5, 2021. She leaves her devoted husband of 65 years, Donald, and their children, Steven, Matthew, Christina, and Kevin. She was the loving mother-in-law of Sylvia, Lisa, and John Thilbourg, Jr. Patricia will also be missed by her 11 grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Graham Jackson, Chelsea, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Deanna, Claire, John III, Patrick, Samantha, Sean, and Owen; and her great-granddaughter Isabella. Sisters-in-law Rose and Eileen Slattery also held a special place in Patricia’s heart. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Anna Slattery, as well as her siblings: sister Mary (and her husband, Joe Vetter), and brothers Jerome (and his wife Virginia), John, and Thomas. A kind woman who opened her door to all, Patricia was well-loved by many friends over the years throughout her time on Long Island and in Connecticut, Florida, and upstate NY. She was of sharp wit and as quick with a zinger of a joke as she was with a helping hand. Patricia was a devout Catholic and truly embodied the commandment to, “Love one another.” A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 NY-81, Greenville, NY 12083. A memorial service will follow at Pine Ridge Farm in Greenville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Patricia’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Eddy Alzheimer’s Services (421 Columbia Street, Bldg. 300, Cohoes, NY 12049). Arrangements by A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville. Condolences can be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com. “There’s a tear in your eye and I’m wondering why, for it never should be there at all … You should laugh all the while and all other times, smile, and now smile a smile for me.” (“When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”)
