Obituary of Winifred M. Carter

MEDUSA – Winifred “Winnie” Mary Morris Carter, age 88, born March 12, 1933, died April 27, 2021 with her children by her side. Winnie was known to many for her avid love of nature and animals, and her sweet tooth. Winnie was born in New Haven, Connecticut to a mechanic and a homemaker. She grew up during the Depression and always had interesting stories to share. She was a loving mother and gramere`. Winnie was a reading teacher, social worker, started a library in Africa, and had a small business repairing vinyl and leather. She liked to sew and knit, and was very creative. She was adventurous and loved sharing her tea parties, hiking, backpacking, and travel. Winnie leaves behind her daughter, Pamela Beeman; son, Peter Carter and daughter-in-law, Sharon Andrews; grandchildren, Katie Conroy (Mark Benson), Peter (Franny) Beeman, Daniel Beeman (Chelsea Doyle), Jason Conroy, Robert Carter, and John Carter; great-grandchildren, Siri, Orien, Anthony, Hunter, Bella, Cole, Declan, Callan, and Bentley; brothers-in-law, George Martineau and Rev. Hank Hansen; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, Rev. Robert Carter; her parents and six siblings; and son-in-law, Rev. Warren Beeman. Winnie lived a full and loving life. May we all do the same! A memorial service will be held over the summer.
