Obituary of Brigid Teresa Brennan

EAST DURHAM - The family of Brigid Teresa Brennan sadly announces her passing on Thursday, July 26, 2012. She was 71 years old. Brigid was born on Oct 12, 1940 in Carrick, Co. Donegal, Ireland to James Cunningham and the former Brigid Kennedy. She shared her childhood with seven siblings: Denis Cunningham (Ireland), Mary Hunt (England) and Anne McLaughlin (New York), and the now deceased Nora Kirby, Patrick Cunningham, James Cunningham and Michael Cunningham. Brigid came to America in 1960 and married the late James Brennan. They moved to East Durham in 1973 where she continued to live until recently. She worked at Eden Park Nursing Home as a nurse's aide in addition to many summers at McKenna's and Glen Brook Farms. During her free time she enjoyed knitting Irish sweaters and crocheting blankets. Brigid is survived by her daughter, Brigid T Brennan, son-in-law, Michael Henry, three grandchildren Michael, Ciara and Seán Henry and many nieces and nephews. Viewing hours will be on Tuesday, July 31, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81 in Greenville, NY. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, East Durham on Wednesday, August 1 at 11 am. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. Light a candle at ajcunninghamfh.com.
