Obituary of Russell J. Case, Jr.

MEDUSA - Russell J. Case, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday February 9, 2021. He was born on September 12, 1936 in Bates Hollow to the late Russell J. Sr. and Ruth Hammond Case. When he was a small child, his family moved to his grandparents farm on 351 in Medusa, until he was nine years old when his father then bought his own farm in Rensselaerville. Russell worked a milk route, running cans of milk from the different farms, and was a member of the Dairyman's League. He bought his current property in Medusa in the 1960’s and it was there that he and his wife, Marguerite Rifenburg Case, raised their family. In 1962, he began working for Albany County D.P.W., where he worked as a mechanic for 37 years. Russell was a member of the Mohawk Hudson Tractor Club and enjoyed going to tractor shows. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and would ride down to Nashville to attend the Grand Ole Opry. His hobbies included toy trains and toy tractors, going hunting, and watching baseball, especially the Yankees and the Mets. In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite J. Case in 2018. Russell is survived by his children, Russell III, Michael, and Mark Sr. Case, and Linda (Rich) Snyder; his grandchildren, Jeffrey and Christopher Snyder, Brittany (Dominic) Higgins, Mark Jr. (Kelly) and Heather Case; his great-grandchildren, River Higgins and Boden Furman; his brothers, Ronald (Janet) and John (Pat) Case; and many nieces and nephews.
