Let me just say I loved my Aunt Marie very much. Marie is my mother's sister. My mother's name is Jane Stahl. One of 13 children. My mother told me that Marie took care of her when she was little. I always felt my mother and Marie always had a special connection. Marie was much loved by many people. I have many, many happy memories of her. I have been very blessed to have had her in my life for 56 years. She was always there for me. She had a direct hand in making me into the woman I am today. I always felt her love for me. I remember when she and Uncle Fred lived on Long Island and how my parents used to visit with them and a lot of the family. She was a very giving person. She loved her dogs and took care of them well.
Just taking a walk with her down the road at her house in East Durham. She wanted to know everything that was going on in my life. She was interested in me. She was happy when I got married and had children of my own. I remember one summer after I graduated from high school, I spent the summer with Aunt Marie and Uncle Fred at their farmhouse. I learned how to bake berry pies, did laps in their pool, visited with neighbors, made new friends with the summer vacationers. I had the time of my life. I learned so much about her and myself during this time. I remember her laugh, her smile, holding her hand on our walks, her hugs and just someone who cared about people. I remember seeing my cousins, aunts, and uncles come visit with them too. There was always a house full of company.
I miss her greatly, but it's just my heart being selfish. I know she is at peace, healed, and perfect the way God created her to be. I know some people may think I make her out to be a saint, but Aunt Marie was just like all of humanity, perfectly imperfect. She was human and may have rubbed some people the wrong way, but she didn't care what people thought about her. She could be tough, opinionated, and bossy sometimes, but when she loved you, she loved you with everything she had in her. She was a talented painter, something I wish I had.
She loved God, her family, and her son, Armand. I personally want to thank Armand for loving Marie unconditionally, taking such good care of her for all of these years. Especially, the past three or four years when I know it was tough for him to see her not be former self. The last time I saw Aunt Marie about 3 years ago, she didn't remember me right away, but when we told her I was Janie's daughter, she had a flicker of remembrance of me. I cherish every memory I have of her. I had started to prepare myself for the day when she would no longer be with us on earth, but I don't think you are ever fully prepared for losing someone you love.
I can't wait to see my Aunt Marie my Gram, and my father again in heaven one day. Rest well, Aunt Marie until that day.

Arrmand & Family: I am so sorry to hear of Marie's passing. What a special caring lady. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for probably 30 years. Always had that smile on her face. She will be greatly missed.

Joe & I loved Marie! She was a wonderful, sweet, kind lady who had such a marvelous sense of humor and just loved life! We loved taking her out for lunch and listen while she shared stories with us! She was definitely an independent woman who would scold you if you dared to shovel her walk or offer to bring her wood! We loved her so much!

Armand- I am deeply saddened by your loss. I treasure the many delightful conversations and stories Marie shared over the years when she stopped by the shop. When my dad passed, she was a ray of sunshine and light, checking in on way to/from the VA, sharing stories of “the guys”, and spreading her special kind of love. The past few years, I cherish the infrequent times I ran into you both. Every time she would light up with that special radiance. It is clear that the universe worked wonderful magic bringing you together. May her memory be a blessing and may you find peace.

My condolences to Armand and to the rest of Marie's family. I met Marie 2003 she had found a little black dog that was running in the area which I adopted. I met her from time to time with Armand who was a dedicated son. She was a wonderful lady. Rest in peace Marie.

I wrote this to Armand when I read his words:
Words flowed from you like your music..,.gentle and easy..,,,somewhat elegant but yet with a light and airy feeling. What I imagine she was like in her day....,,,elegant with a lilt. Your tribute was beautiful and so not like the "usual". It was so "Armand". I could hear the music in your heart for her in your words. She was as blessed to have you for a son as you were blessed to have her as a mom and you honored her beautifully. May your memories sustain you as you accept her having ascended to the Father. Thank you for sharing her!

Armand-what a dedicated son you were to this wonderful lady. Everyone we saw you out at West Winds, Green Hill, etc. she would always inquire about my dad, Ralph Hull. They were close in age and always wondered how the other was doing. She always has a smile on her face. What a wonderful lady.? Our sincere sympathy.
