Obituary of Matthew F. Quackenbush, Sr.

Matthew Quackenbush, Sr. (52) of Greenville, NY passed away suddenly at his home on July 8, 2012. He was born in Albany, NY on Oct. 4, 1959; one of ten children to the late Dorothea and William T. Quackenbush, Jr. Matt enjoyed spending time with his children, Emily, Abigail, Matt Jr. and Luke, as well as granddaughter Layla and welcomed new granddaughter Scarlett. He loved to play piano, enjoyed listening to music, and loved to cook & grill. His hobbies also included spending time outdoors in the nice weather and fishing. He was a loyal Yankee fan and loved watching a good game. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. We will miss this the most from him. He was a very selfless and kind person and was always thinking of others over himself. Matt was a patient and dedicated son and brother, who took care of his mother "Dot" for many years. He served as her primary caregiver through the end of her days. Matt was a loving, supportive and generous father and grandfather and will be missed immensely and will be forever loved. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Edward & Joseph Quackenbush. Surviving are his sons, Matthew Quackenbush, Jr., Luke Quackenbush, his daughters Abigail Cole & Emily Quackenbush and his grandchildren, Layla & Scarlett Cole. Also his brothers & sisters; William T. Quackenbush III (Kathleen), Michael Quackenbush (Marilyn), Rev. Daniel Quackenbush, Mark Quackenbush (Luann), Mary Keyes (Don), Judith Reischer (Thomas), Bernadette Sharkey (Frank) and several nieces & nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday July 13, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Church, SR81 Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY on Thurs. 5 to 8pm. Interment will be in the Greenville Cemetery.
