Obituary of Patrick Joseph Neville

DURHAM – Patrick Joseph Neville, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, March 27, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Pat was born on May 14, 1939 in County Cork, Ireland, a son of the late Patrick Joseph Neville and Catherine “Kitty” McCarthy Neville. He came to America and resided in Queens, before making Durham his home. Pat retired from Liberty Transit in Westchester, where he was a bus driver and past chairman of his union local. Pat loved Irish football and hurling, and was forever proud of his County Cork teams. He was an expert on all things Cork, both history of the county, and history and stats of the teams! Pat enjoyed dancing – waltzes and quick-steps. Pat is survived by his loving and devoted spouse, Maryanne Neville; caring stepsons, Burke Armstrong, and Austin Armstrong and his spouse, Jacqueline; two granddaughters, Avery and Tristan Armstrong; sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, both in Ireland and America. Pat was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Out of concern for the health and wellbeing of family and friends, memorials will be held at a later date when restrictions have been lifted.
