Obituary of Virginia C. Brandt

GREENVILLE – Virginia C. Brandt, a resident of Greenville since 1978, passed away peacefully in the comfort of the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Eileen.

          Born in the Bronx, she was daughter of the late Walter and Helen Wright Kummer, and wife of the late William J. Brandt, who died in January of 1989.  Following graduation, Virginia worked as a bank teller at Dollar Savings Bank, and as a secretary, both in New York City.  Since relocating to Greenville, she has worked in guest services at Sunny Hill Resort, retiring two years ago.  Virginia attended Sacred Heart Church in Cairo, Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, and St. Patrick’s Church in Ravena.  She enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

          Virginia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, William F. (Eileen) Brandt and Richard J. (Elizabeth) Brandt; grandchildren, Ericka, Ashleigh, Will, and Angelina Brandt; step-grandsons, Donald Ferguson and Thomas Supeau; her dear friend, Michael O’Rourke; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was predeceased by her siblings, Jane Manning, Donald Kummer, and Richard “Dick” Kummer.

          Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 17th from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville.  Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, December 18th at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 21 Main Street, Ravena.  Weather permitting, burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations to Community Hospice of Albany, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208, or to St. Patrick’s Church, 21 Main Street, Ravena, NY 12143, will be appreciated.  Condolence page at ajcunninghamfh.com.
