Obituary of Mary McCabe

GREENVILLE – Mary McCabe, 81, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Greene Meadows in Catskill.  Born in County Cavan, Ireland on January 14, 1938, she was daughter of the late Bernard and Jane Ann McCaffery Broxton, and wife of the late Thomas McCabe.  Mary was a resident of Greenville for many years. She assisted her daughter and son-in-law in the operation of their family business, Rose Motel in Durham. Mary was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, and a member of the Greenville Irish-American Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of Our Lady of Knock Council 6439 Knights of Columbus in East Durham.

          Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Dobies; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Ariel) Dobies and their newborn son, Finnley, and Joseph Dobies, his girlfriend, Jennifer Borucinski, and their son, Riley Joseph; one brother, Patrick Broxton of Ireland; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Duffy, James and Brian Broxton, and her son-in-law, Bruno Dobies, Jr.

          Calling hours will be Sunday, December 8th, from 2 until 4 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville.  Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, December 9th, at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville.  Spring burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.
