CONESVILLE - Olive M. Makely, age 85, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Cobleskill Regional Hospital. She was born in West Durham on Dec. 15, 1926, daughter of the late Ernest and Cora German Brink. Olive was a graduate of Greenville Central School. She married Jerry Makely, Jr. in 1946 and went to work at Greendel Packing, and in later years at Becker Electronics. Olive was a member of the Conesville United Methodist Church. She loved to read and crochet. Olive's dearest joy was to be able to see her three great-grandsons every day. This, along with the anticipation of her fourth great-grandson due in July kept her going. In addition to her parents, Olive was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Makely, Jr. on Nov. 21, 2003; two brothers, Charles and Roscoe Brink; a niece, Carol Lyon and a great nephew, Charlie Lyon. Survivors include her daughter, June Abrams (Robert); two granddaughters, Hannah Sells (Jesse) and Cory Billings (Josh); three great-grandsons, Connor and Craig Sells and Aiden Billings; a sister-in-law, Katharine Brink; niece, Bonny Sattler (Andrew), great-nephews, Randy, Kevin and Keith Sattler; nephew, Bruce Brink (Bonda), great-nephew, Brian Brink and great-niece, Sherri Ormsbee; nephew, Ernest Brink (Peggy) and great-nieces, Alicia Palmer, Lucy Palmer and Holly Morrison. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in the Conesville United Methodist Church, with burial following in Manorkill Cemetery. Friends may call at the church prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Those who wish to remember Olive in a special way may contribute to the Conesville United Methodist Church or the Conesville Rescue Squad.
