Obituary of Earl Loucks
GREENVILLE - Earl Loucks, age 91, of Surprise, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Dormansville on July 25, 1920, he was son of the late Byron and Pearl Groesbeck Loucks. Earl was a graduate of Greenville Central School. He was self-employed as a poultry farmer and egg producer, owning and operating Star Poultry Farm in South Bethlehem for 46 years with his wife, retiring in 1988. Earl was a member of Hiawatha Grange in Dormansville and was recognized in 2010 for 75 years of continuous membership. He also was a member of Albany County Pomona Grange, New York State and National Grange. He served as Past Master on the local and county levels, and as Deputy State Master, as well as Installation Officer for many local granges. Earl was a member of Dormansville United Methodist Church, and was a member and Past President of Albany County Farm Bureau.
Earl is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine Miller Loucks; children, Loretta Loucks Stevenson and Lawrence M. "Larry" Loucks and his wife Katherine; grand-daughter, Hope Douglas; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by his younger brother, Franklin, on April 5, 2012.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, with the Grange service at 6 p.m. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Dormansville United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.
