Obituary of Robert Matthew Carson, Jr.
Portland, ME - Robert Matthew Carson, Jr., 46, of Scarborough, ME and formerly of Greenville, NY died on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, after a two year battle with cancer.
He was born on September 24, 1965 in Roslyn, NY a son of the late Robert M. Carson, Sr. and Helen A. (Merrihew) Carson, with whom he lived. He grew up in Greenville, NY, attended local schools and graduating from Greenville High School. Bob was a truck driver by trade and worked for Albany Asphalt in Albany, NY before starting his own trucking company, Carson's & Sons in South China, ME. Also, while in New York he was a licensed EMT, working for Capitol District and Richards ambulance services. He also volunteered his time as a firefighter in Greenville and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, AFL-CIO. He enjoyed snow mobiling and was a huge NASCAR fan with Dale Earnhardt Sr. as his favorite driver.
Besides his mother Helen, he is survived by his two sons, Robert M. Carson III of Scarborough, ME and Charles P. Carson of Waterville, ME as well as his brother Patrick S. Carson, his niece Camdynn Carson both of South Portland, ME and many cousins.
Relatives and friends of Robert are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday May 5, 2012 located at Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, NY. Service will be held at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to: American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
