Obituary of G. Jon Chase

MEDUSA G. (Gary) Jon Chase died at Albany Memorial Hospital on Friday, February 17, 2012 with his family beside him. He was born September 2, 1948 in the Town of Seward and son of the late Clifford Leslie Chase II and Bernice Hoyt Chase. Jon served as Fire Chief & dishwasher for the Medusa Fire Co. and President of the Albany County Town Highway Superintendents Association. For 12 years he held the elected position of Superintendent of Highways serving the citizens of the Town of Rensselaerville. Married October 17, 1965 survives his wife, Joyce Joy Chase of Medusa, children: Gary J. (Pamela) Chase II of Preston Hollow, Bonnie (Roger) Gifford Berne/Town of Rensselaerville, Bradley (Renea) Chase of Medusa. Grandchildren: Danielle (Clifton) Powell III of Greenville, Elizabeth and Parker Chase of Preston Hollow, Henry and Ashley Gifford of Berne, Nicole Chase of Medusa and great grandchild Cyle Powell of Greenville. Also surviving are siblings Clifford (Janice) Chase III, Richard (Carol) Chase, Wanda (Charles-deceased) Clickman, twin brother Barry Mark (Carol) Chase, Galen (Rachel) Chase, Linda (Blaine Shaver-deceased) Chase, Melony (Doyle) Shaver, and many nieces and nephews. Jon was pre-deceased by infant brother, Tommie Chase. The funeral service will be Friday, February 24th at 11 a.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville with burial at the Medusa Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be at the funeral home Thursday 2-4 and 6-8. Contributions can be made to the Medusa Fire Company, Kidney Foundation or Community Hospice of Albany County. The family would like to thank everyone who showed compassion, support and cared for Jon in some way. The Town of Rensselaerville has lost a person with a fight to live, a heart of caring, a friend to most, and an extremely hard worker. He truly was a role model for this community. Sweet Peace.
