Obituary of Beatrice M. Adams

GREENVILLE - Beatrice M. Adams, age 93, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. She was born at home in Staten Island on Oct. 23, 1918, where she was also raised and educated. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jane Boyle Mee. Beatrice was a production worker with S.S. White Dental Mfg. in Staten Island until her retirement. In 1999, at age 80, she came to Greenville. She loved to do crafts, crochet, knit; and loved to be with her family, who included her in everything. She enjoyed playing bingo with her girlfriends, and loved to win. Beatrice was manager of Jane's Red Sleigh, her daughter's gift shop. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville. Survivors include her daughter, Jane E. (Bill) Newman of Greenville and two grandsons, Stephen Newman and Ryan Newman and his fiancée, Cassandra Ortiz. In addition to her parents, Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Adams; brother, Thomas Mee; and niece, Dr. Susan Mee. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Beatrice's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville. There will be a memorial gathering following the Mass at the family residence. Burial of her ashes will be in Staten Island at the convenience of the family.
