WESTERLO - Ruth A. Waldron Shaver, age 85, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012. She was born in Westerlo on May 10, 1926, daughter of the late Ward Sr. and Anna Vincent Waldron. Ruth was a graduate of Greenville Central Schools and a lifelong resident of Westerlo. After graduating, she worked at the Westerlo Post Office. Ruth was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, where she sang in the choir and served as secretary for the Sunday and Bible School. Over the past few years, she was actively involved in the church's prayer chain. Ruth was a former member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Hiawatha Grange. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, knitting, puzzles and family gatherings. Ruth also loved going to Bingo with her sister Lois and, as her kids would say, her "Bingo Buddies". Ruth is survived by her children, Kayette Ferraioli (George) of Lakeland, FL, Doyle Shaver Sr. (Melony) of Medusa, Marla J. Shaver of Westerlo, Zena Higgins (Anthony) of Medusa; sister, Lois Klob (Fred) and brother Dale Waldron (Shirley); 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth is predeceased by her husband, Gordon R. Shaver; her son, Blaine G. Shaver Sr.; brother Ward "Bud" Waldron Jr. and sister Marilyn White. Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, PO Box 130, or the Westerlo Rescue Squad, PO Box 12, both in Westerlo, NY 12193 will be appreciated.
