GREENVILLE- Miss Barbara Ettelson, age 83, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 20, 2012 at her residence. Born on October 1, 1928 in Sydney, Australia, she was daughter of the late Philip and Dora Shmith Ettelson. Barbara was raised and educated in Australia and in England, coming to the United States at the age of 25. She worked at a bank before being employed at the United Nations, rising to Chief of Promotion & Marketing before retirement. Barbara was an accomplished world traveler, both on UN business and privately. She loved the era of travel abroad on ocean liners, and considered those voyages her happiest times. Barbara was a charitable woman who loved reading, listening to classical music, and watching classic films. She moved to Greenville in 1977. Barbara is survived by a sister, Sara Ettelson McLean; brother, Brian Ettelson; nieces, Katherine Williams and Susan Goodman; nephews, James Williams and Michael Ettelson; many dear and caring friends. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by a brother, John Ettelson. Respecting Barbara's wishes, she will be cremated privately and no services will be held. Memorials to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534, or the American Heart Association will be appreciated. Arrangements by A.J.
