Farkas, Vera Mae WESTERLO - Vera Mae Lockwood Farkas, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Born on May 15, 1926 in Westerlo, she was daughter of the late Clifford and Bessie Mae Hannay Lockwood. Vera was a graduate of Greenville schools and was a lifelong resident of Westerlo. She worked as a secretary at the former Stanton Insurance Agency, and was the bookkeeper for her husband's business. In later years, Vera was a homemaker who enjoyed music, traveling, sewing, crocheting and baking. She was a longtime member of Hiawatha Grange and the M.B.I. Guild at First Baptist Church of Westerlo, where she served for 60 years as organist. Vera is survived by her daughter, Susan E. Telfer (Joseph) of Westerlo; one niece, Martha Laurene Murgia (Hank); one sister-in-law, Irene Molnar Bodi; several other nieces, nephews and cousins, with special mention of Roland Tozer (Janet). In addition to her parents, Vera is predeceased by her husband of nearly 63 years, Joseph Farkas Jr., who passed away April 25, 2011; and her brother, Lauren Lockwood. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
