Obituary of June Skidmore

June Skidmore, 83 years, of Greenville, passed away at the home of her daughter Meredith in Cairo, NY on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011. She was born in New Rochelle on Sept. 25, 1927, daughter of the late Lewis Eugene and Evelyn (Allen) Pierson. June and her husband E. Bruce Skidmore were married June 28, 1952 in St. Mark's Church in Westhampton Beach, LI, NY, where they began their family. They moved to Greenville where she has lived for the last 41 years. June was very involved with the Girl Scouts on Long Island. She was a lover of nature-flowers, birds, etc. June enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends, and swimming was one of her favorite pastimes. June took much pride in watching her grandchildren grow up to be fine adults. She was a member of the Clematis Garden Club and the Greenville-Norton Hill UM Church. Besides her parents, June was predeceased by her beloved husband on December 2, 2006. Survivors include two daughters, Carol J. Spannagel, and Meredith E. Grupe (Mark); a son, James W. Skidmore (Stephanie); her grandchildren, Kyle Grupe (Maureen), Trevor Grupe, Christopher Goodman and Teresa Goodman; her great-grandchildren, Brady, Ella and Emersyn Grupe; her sister, Jacqueline P. Nettles & her children Pamela, Christy, Damon & Geoffrey; her half brother, Louis E. Pierson III; her brother-in-law Rodney Skidmore (Diane) & his children David, Robin, Nathan & Stacy. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 2 PM at the Greenville-Norton Hill UM Church, 5830 SR 81, Greenville.
