Obituary of Vivian A. Simpson

CAIRO/DURHAM - Vivian A. Ruland Simpson, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 2, 2011. Vivian was born on August 6, 1920 at home in Durham, daughter of the late Ralph and Martha Andrus Ruland. Vivian was a lifelong resident of Durham. She served as Postmistress of the Sunside Post Office. Vivian is survived by two daughters, Beatrice (Philip C.) Algozzine and Eileen Simpson; three grandchildren, Christopher (Bonny) Algozzine, Thomas (Heather) Algozzine and Jessica Simpson; five great-grandchildren, Andrea, Zachary, Lillian, Colin and Ian Algozzine. In addition to her parents, Vivian was predeceased by her husband, Lester W. Simpson, and her son, Gerald Simpson. Cremation has taken place under direction of A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial of her ashes will take place at a later date in Cairo Cemetery.
