Obituary of Bertha H. Duncan
MEDUSA - Bertha H. Duncan, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at her residence after a long illness. Born on July 16, 1918 in Broome, Schoharie County, she was daughter of the late George and Mabel Pulver Knowles, and wife of the late Howard Duncan, who died in 1997. Bertha will be remembered as a selfless, dedicated wife, mother and sister, and for her Christian values. She enjoyed needlework and her gardens, and she was a great cook - homemade bread and apple pie were her specialties.
Bertha is survived by her children, Len (Peg) Duncan, Westerlo, Ken Duncan, Glen, Janet (Ken) Hoyt, Grand Gorge, Gloria Diamond, Schoharie, Alan Duncan, Reg (Janice) Duncan, Ron (Gloria) Duncan, all of Medusa, Patricia (Jon) Case, Berne; 29 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Marge Dahl, Ringgold, GA, Virginia (Shirley) Buel, Freehold, Doris Bode, Palm Springs Gardens, FL, Alfred Knowles, Hannacroix; daughter-in-law, Arlene Ingalls; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Rudolph.
A calling hour will be Thursday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, followed by the funeral at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Medusa Cemetery.
