Obituary of Eve Carlton Cunnane Mackey
Eve Carlton Cunnane Mackey
Born Dec.23, 1940 in New York City to Charles Gosta Carlton and Ragnhild Evelina
Erickson. She slipped away from her loving family here on earth and entered the gates of heaven on Thurs. Feb. 24, 2011 after enduring more than two decades of heart disease without complaint, soldiering on like the true Viking that she was. Eve spent much of her youth in East Durham, NY surrounded by her family. She went on to raise four children in the Hudson Valley and returned to school to pursue a career in cosmetology. Nothing made Eve happier than serving customers at her shop, Two Girls Beauty Salon, in Fishkill, NY. Her gifts were many; she was selfless with her talent and her time, always volunteering without hesitation. As a costume designer, accomplished seamstress, cake decorator and gardener, Eve was often sought out by members of the community for her exceptional creativity and skill. You would be hard-pressed to find a field trip for any of her four children that she did not chaperone. Although she served on the PTA and as a scout leader, Eve still found time to take her family on frequent camping expeditions. Eve's door was open to all, her motto being "the more the merrier", as evidenced by her welcoming smile.
Eve is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, June and Bill McMahon, her four children, Mark S. Cunnane, Debra B. Cunnane Morris, Valerie J. Cunnane Mazon, John C. Cunnane and their father Joseph J. Cunnane. Eve will forever be remembered by her treasured grandchildren, Chantelle A. Morris, Jenna E. Mazon, David B. Morris, Jessica A. Mazon and Jamie L. Mazon. She is additionally survived by Ann-Marie Connor Cunnane and Susan J. Clark who were blessed to share their lives with her.
Eve's greatest wish was that she be remembered by her ever-present smile and infectious laughter. Friends may call at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Sr81, Greenville, NY on Sat. March 5 from 12noon to 2pm. Interment Winston Cemetery, East Durham, NY. Light a Candle at ajcunninghamfh.com.
