Obituary of Donald O. Armstrong

Cornwallville - Donald O. Armstrong (88) of Cornwallville, NY passed away at his home on Feb. 22, 2011. He was born in East Durham on May 15, 1922 son of the late William & Mary (Murta) Armstrong. He was educated in the one room school house in Cornwallville, NY. A long time farmer he also worked as an equipment operator for the Town of Durham Highway Dept. & the Greene Co. Highway Dept. retiring when he was 62. Well known as a family man he was also a member of the National Campers & Hikers Assn. He was predeceased by his wife Norma (Poultney) Armstrong, a daughter Roberta Armstrong and a brother Walter Armstrong. Surviving is his son Donald P. Armstrong of East Durham, NY, four daughters; Mary Winters (Ron Cole) of Ruby, NY, Elaine Turner (Robert) of Lakeland, FL, Marie Holland (Kevin) of Cornwallville, NY & Doris Vedder (Frank) of Norton Hill, NY his 10 grandchildren; Robert Winters, Melinda King, Kenneth Winters, Christopher Merritt, Jamie Merritt, Jennifer Olivett, Angela Multari, Christopher Holland, Lisa Vedder & Mike Holland also 9 great grandchildren & several nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral service will be 11AM Mon. Feb. 28 at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, NY 12083. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sun. from 3 to 6pm. Spring interment will be in the Cornwallville Cemetery.
