**Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Griffin**
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Griffin, who peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 95 years and 4 months, surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home.
Born and raised in Coeymans Hollow, Mary was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. She attended the Little Red School House and later graduated from RCS, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
In 1949, she married her beloved husband, Edward Griffin, with whom she shared a remarkable journey for 70 wonderful years, building a life together at Balsam Shade Farm.
Mary had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel, exploring many fascinating countries throughout her life, with Egypt holding a special place in her heart. She was a true lover of nature, known locally for her vibrant flower gardens, as well as her enjoyment of bicycle riding and long walks. Above all, Mary cherished her family, cooking delicious meals, and creating beautiful, crocheted Afghans that warmed the hearts and homes of her loved ones.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Camilla (Wright) Lounsbury and Elliot Lounsbury Sr., her beloved husband Edward, and her daughter, Darcy Lynn Correia.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter Jyl DeGiovine (Leonard), four cherished grandchildren: Evangeline Van Auken (Edward), Ian DeGiovine (Veronika), Aaron DeGiovine (Amber), and Noel Kyrie DeGiovine, as well as great-grandchildren: Alexandria Robertson (Lance), Edward Van Auken (Bonnie), Elizabeth Van Auken, Samuel Van Auken, Colin DeGiovine, and Vaughn DeGiovine. She is also survived by great-great-grandchildren Tanner and Wyatt Robertson, and her dear nephew, Jeffrey Pellerin.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sandra Lounsbury Ross for her unwavering support and care over the past year and a half, enabling Mary to remain at home, where she wished to be.
We also extend our sincerest thanks to Community Hospice for their compassionate care during this time; their support is a true blessing to families facing the end of life.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, no public service will be held. In her memory, the family encourages donations to Community Hospice of Greene County, The Trinity United Methodist Church in Coeymans Hollow, NY, or The Congregational Christian Church of South Westerlo, NY.
Mary Elizabeth Griffin will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind.
