Obituary of Donna Ruth Sanderford

**Obituary for Donna Ruth Sanderford**

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donna Ruth Sanderford, who left us on Saturday, August 31,2024.  Born on July 11, 1961, in Albany, New York, to David Flansburg and Jean Flansburg (née Vanpelt), Donna was a cherished daughter, mother, sister, and friend.

Raised in the beautiful landscapes of Albany County, particularly in Slingerlands and Westerlo, she carried the warmth of her hometown in her heart throughout her life. Donna’s educational journey took her through Greenville and Alcove Christian Academy, and though she did not graduate, her determination led her to earn her GED in Texas—a testament to her intelligence and perseverance.

Throughout her career as a professional cleaner, Donna dedicated herself to maintaining a welcoming environment for many, notably in an old folk’s residential home, and at Rainbow Golf Course, where she shared joyful moments with Cookie and Walt, as well as during her years at Daigle Cleaning Services.

Those who knew Donna will fondly remember her love for life's simple pleasures. She found joy in watching her beloved daytime soap opera, "Days of Our Lives," and relished the nostalgia of reruns of "Little House on the Prairie." Her creativity shone through in her crocheting, as she lovingly crafted outfits and blankets for her grandnieces and grandnephews. Donna was also famous for her delightful, deviled eggs, a staple at every holiday gathering that brought loved ones together during Christmas and Easter.

Donna is preceded in death by her beloved father, David Flansburg, who passed away in August 2023.

She leaves behind her two children, Taunya and David Sanderford, along with her two stepchildren, Terence and Matthew Sanderford. Also surviving her are her loving mother, Jean Flansburg, and her siblings, Scott Flansburg, Mark Flansburg, and Beth Patterson. In addition, she is survived by a plethora of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

In honor of Donna’s compassionate spirit, the family invites those who wish to celebrate her life to consider donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, an organization she held dear for its commitment to providing exceptional care for children.

As we grieve the loss of Donna, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on our lives. Her kindness, perseverance, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace, dear Donna; you will be deeply missed.

Arrangements have been entrusted with A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, and by request she was privately cremated.
