Obituary of Veronica M. Fori
SELKIRK – Veronica M. “Roni” Fori, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Good Friday morning, April 15, 2022.
Roni was born on May 26, 1943, daughter of the late Ralph B. and Raphael “Rae” Palmeri Fori formerly of Coeymans. Roni served the Coeymans and Ravena areas as a hairdresser for 17 years. She was the sole female proprietor of Fori’s Variety Store on Main Street in Ravena for 40 years. Roni had many interests and hobbies throughout her life. She was a devoted lover of animals and had generously donated to several organizations. Roni loved to travel and loved the beach, and was mostly fond of casinos, Atlantic City, and roulette. She spent countless hours on the beaches of Truro and Provincetown on Cape Cod and sporadically went sailing, leaving everyone to wonder where she went. She often gathered her friends and hosted card games, which brought her great joy, as she often wiped everyone out. Roni was known for her love of singing, dancing, and roller skating. She was known by the nickname of “Dead-Eye” as she was a passionate dart player. Roni also was an avid bowler, sponsoring two leagues which left her well known in the community.
Roni is survived by her beloved dog, Dilly, and her birds, Charlie, Louie, and Beulah; several cousins and many friends. In addition to her parents, Roni was predeceased by her loving aunt, Mary Dudley.
Services and a celebration of her life will be private. For those wishing to remember Roni in a special way, memorial donations to AnimalKind, 721 Warren Street, Hudson, NY 12534 will be appreciated.
Special thanks and much appreciation to Community Hospice; the devoted, loving caregivers that were always by her side; and to the staff of A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home for their professionalism. Condolence page is available at ajcunninghamfh.com.
