Obituary of Kenneth Bryan

Kenneth Charles Bryan, 78, of Kingston, TN, formerly of Rensselaerville, NY, passed away un-expectedly on Monday, November 7, 2016 following a heart attack. He was born May 14, 1938 in Albany NY, the oldest of three sons of the late Kenneth F. and N. Ruth (Panting) Bryan. He graduated from Greenville Central School in 1956 and married his wife Barbara in 1962. He enlisted in the Army, and served two years in Germany (with Barbara) before returning to Rensselaerville with first born Kenneth C., Jr. Ken worked in the plumbing and electrical trade and soon founded his own business as a plumbing, heating, and electrical contractor, which he successfully operated for over 30 years. He was well known and well regarded in Rensselaerville and the surrounding towns for the quality of his work, his integrity, and honesty. Many people, including his three children, worked with, and learned these important skills and character traits from his patient instruction and example. In 2004, he and Barbara retired to Tennessee and built a home in a rural setting similar to Rensselaerville. Neighbors were soon drawn to this friendly and generous couple, despite their Yankee accents. Ken kept busy by helping neighbors while Barbara worked in retail. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family; working with his backhoe; deer hunting, and various projects with son Patrick; keeping up with the lives of his friends and family in New York; reading and keeping up with current events; and avoiding anything to do with computers! He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Barbara (Pabst) Bryan; brothers Dick Bryan (Phylis) and Ted Bryan; children Kenneth Bryan, Jr. (Mary Ann Wollaber), Patrick Bryan (Mary Ann Reeves), and Lynnaine Borock (Jeff Borock); three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A funeral mass was held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City, TN on November 10th. Internment of ashes will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery at a later time.
