Obituary of Timothy M. Ryan

GREENVILLE – Timothy M. Ryan, 89, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his residence. Born in New York City on July 10, 1926, he was son of the late Timothy and Elizabeth Codogan Ryan. Mr. Ryan was raised in Dutchess County and resided there for most of his life, moving to Greenville, Greene County in 2011. In his early years, he drove a tanker truck, delivering coke syrup. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and Korea. Mr. Ryan was employed as a tool & die engineer at IBM in Poughkeepsie for more than 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses, serving as an elder in the Millerton, Red Hook, and Greenville congregations. Mr. Ryan was a history buff and an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Shirley H. Ryan; children, Susan C. Bowers, Patricia A. Parmiter, and Mark P. Ryan; brother, John F. Ryan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ryan was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret D. Ryan; son, Thomas M. Ryan; and brother, Irwin “Red” Ryan. A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of the Greenville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5679 State Route 81, Greenville.
