Obituary of David James Reinhard

David James Reinhard, 71, passed peacefully into eternal life on October 8, 2023, with family by his side. 

David was born on February 1, 1952, in Camp Lejune, North Carolina to Clarence (Jim) and Ruth Reinhard. He was raised in Saugerties, NY where he graduated from Saugerties High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University. In 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lynn Garrison, and moved to Greenville, NY to raise their children. David worked as a Dispatcher for Red Star Trucking company and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Norton Hill where he served as the Organist for more than 20 years. He was an Eagle Scout and Rotary member. David had many hobbies including playing the piano, music, reading, golfing, and most recently meeting people from all over the world while working for Ft Myers Airport. However, his greatest joys in life were his family and his love of the beach. His happiest times were the years he spent with the love of his life, Mary Lynn, and their three children on the shores of Topsail Island, North Carolina; A place that he always regarded as home. He most recently resided in Ft Myers, Florida surrounded by extended family and an ever-supportive group of friends that became family. 

David was predeceased by his wife Mary Lynn Reinhard (Garrison) and his parents Clarence (Jim) and Ruth Reinhard.

He is survived by his children: Jaime (David) Chismark of Voorheesville, Jason (Courtney) Reinhard of Greenville, and Maggie (Ethan) Stanley of Delmar; his brother Donald (Elaine) Reinhard and his sister Kathleen (Michael Henn) Reinhard; Eight grandchildren - Elliott, Riley, Addison and Cora Chismark, Benjamin and Julia Reinhard, and Oliver and Ruth Stanley; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. 

Calling hours and funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21st at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Norton Hill, 5830 State Route 81, Greenville. Calling hours will be from 12 pm - 1 pm with the funeral service immediately following. Burial to follow at the Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in David’s name.
