Lisette Landry 9 April 1926 - 19 July 2026

It is with sadness and joy that our beloved Lisette also known as “Swiss Miss” graduated to her final resting place, on July 19th, 2026. Lisette was born on April 9th, 1926, in Montricher, Switzerland where they spoke French.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters (Marcelle and Eliane), her two husbands, Louis Kish and Romeo Landry and her grandson (Ian).

She is survived by Romeo’s three daughters, Rachel Beers of East Moline, Illinois, Suzanne Landry of Carp, Ontario, Canada, and Monique Burns and husband, Rick, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. In addition, she leaves behind nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three great-great grandsons, as well as her nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces in Switzerland, United Kingdom, New Zealand, and New Jersey.

Originally moving to the United States eighty years ago to learn English, Lisette worked as a housekeeper and a nanny for a Swiss family of watch makers. Lisette met her first husband’s mother through an English class. After a short courtship, she married Louis and moved to New York. After his passing, she worked at a vacation resort in Greenville, New York, where she eventually met her second husband, Romeo.

Lisette spent most of her life in South Westerlo, New York, where she loved to be outside in her garden with her flowers. Her love of cats led her to rescue many strays and have several pets throughout the years. She was very social and made friends easily and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. She knitted, sewed, and was known amongst her community for her cookies. She had her church family in South Westerlo and a Bible study group that continued to stay in touch after she moved to Illinois in November of 2024. After she moved to Park Vista in East Moline, Illinois, she quickly made new friends. She also attended Parking Lot Church at Faith Walk Church on Sundays. Everyone loved her positive attitude and her singing. She participated in crafts and Bible study group on Fridays. Her favorite song was “You are my Sunshine” and she sang it everywhere, in good times and bad times almost to the end.

Lisette was well known for the advice she would give to everyone she met. Her favorite phrases were “Get my age but don’t get old,” “Eat everything,” and “What’s the meaning of that?” According to Lisette, the secret to being 100 was to “EAT EVERYTHING!” To appease the pain of losing her two husbands Lisette said, “God needed them”. She will be fondly remembered by her family, old friends, and new friends she made along the way.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at 11am at the South Westerlo Congregational Christian Church, with a lunch reception to follow.
