Benjamin Hallenbeck Obituary
Benjamin Thomas Hallenbeck
April 3, 1988 – July 23, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Benjamin Thomas “Ben” Hallenbeck on July 23, 2026, at the age of 38, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Throughout his journey, Ben faced his illness with incredible strength and determination, with the unwavering love and support of his devoted wife, Ashley, by his side every step of the way.
If you knew Ben, you had a friend for life.
Ben had a gift for making people feel welcome. He loved without condition, never hesitated to lend a helping hand, and genuinely enjoyed making people smile. Whether you needed advice, a laugh, or someone to stand beside you, Ben was there.
Ben worked as a mechanic for the Town of Bethlehem Highway Department, where he built more than a career, he built lifelong friendships. Over the years, his coworkers became a second family, and their love and support throughout his battle with cancer meant the world to Ben and Ashley.
When he wasn’t at work, Ben loved being outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, golfing, or out on the boat, those were the things that brought him the most joy. He loved spending that time with the people who meant the most to him.
Ben is survived by his loving wife, Ashley Hallenbeck; his father, Everett Hallenbeck; his mother, Georgia Hallenbeck; his sister, Elizabeth German (Colt); his brother, Zachary Hallenbeck (Robin); his sister, Sara Hallenbeck; several beloved nieces and nephews; extended family; and countless friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
He was predeceased by his beloved brother, Everett; his father-in-law, Stephen P. Wallace, Jr.; and his cherished soul dog, Harper.
Cancer was only one chapter of Ben’s life. It will never be the chapter that defines his legacy. He will be remembered for the way he loved others, the friendships he built, and the countless lives he touched. Ben leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unconditional love that will continue to live on through everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH) for the compassionate care they provided throughout Ben’s journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH) in Ben’s memory.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. Condolences may be left at http://www.ajcunninghamfh.com.
