George H. Butt, 91, of East Durham, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Born on February 22, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, George was the son of the late Albert and Agnes (Byrnes) Butt. From a young age, George understood the value of hard work. He began shining shoes as a boy and later worked unloading trucks and in a machine shop before beginning a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service. After 30 years of service, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and reliability.

George was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed softball and baseball throughout his life. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially supporting and helping his grandsons as they grew. His love, guidance, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Louise; his daughter, Kathleen, and son-in-law, Ted; and his three grandsons, Tyler and his fiancée, Lizz, son Garrett, and son Kyle and his wife, Victoria. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Ella and Beckham, who brought him immense joy.

Care has been entrusted to AJ Cunningham Funeral Home 4898 SR 81, Greenville. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 17th , from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
