Patrick Joseph Hopkins Sr., affectionately known as "Joe," passed away peacefully at the age of 95.

Born on November 15, 1930, in Charlestown, County Mayo, Ireland, Joe was the son of Patrick Hopkins and Celia ("Sissy") Haran Hopkins. He was raised in Ireland and later lived and worked in Manchester, England, before immigrating to the United States in 1953 in pursuit of new opportunities and a better future for his family.

Joe was originally trained as a butcher and was known throughout his life for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He worked for the railroad and later became a successful small business owner. He was an active member of the Long Island Rotary Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Joe enjoyed a full and active life. He found great pleasure in golfing, playing cards, dancing, walking, gardening, and raising cows. He especially cherished time spent with family and friends and was known for his warm personality, sense of humor, and love of conversation.

Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nancy O'Kane Hopkins, and his daughter, Theresa Hopkins Kelly.

He is survived by his loving children: Eileen Fusco and her husband, Thomas, of Milton, Delaware; Maureen Yopp and her husband, Robert, of Old Bethpage, New York; Geri Craig of Greenville, New York; Patrick Hopkins Jr. of Climax, New York; and Sheila Osnes and her husband, Eric, of Huntersville, North Carolina. He is also survived by his sister, Theresa Sawicki of New Jersey, as well as 16 cherished grandchildren and 15 beloved great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, June 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Greenville Cemetery.

Joe's life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and the enduring spirit of an immigrant who built a life filled with love, friendship, and purpose. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
