Arthur “Lex” Harned, 59, of Cairo, New York, was called home suddenly on April 16th, 2026. He was born to Helen Sutton and Thomas Harned in Brooklyn, NY on November 17th,1966. Lex was “just a kid from Brooklyn”, who later moved to Mastic Beach, before finding his home in Cairo, NY. He was sadly preceded in death by his grandson, Gabriel. He is survived by his loving wife Darlene Harned, mother Helen (S) Ryder, and his 4 older siblings: Thomas, Vickie (Kevin), Ronnie (Anthony) and Brian. He leaves behind his 6 children: Kenneth McGovern (Leanne), Kelly Wade (Joseph), Dana Harned (Shane), Franky Harned, Shannan Harned, and JesseJames Harned. Lex will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Danasia, Isaiah, Angelo, Kayleigh, Sibylla, Leyna, Evangeline and Leonardo as well many adored nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Lex was widely recognized by the members of his community and regularly seen with his dog Zeus. He attended the Resurrection Church in Cairo and was well known by the members of his congregation. He often participated in Motorcycle Benefit Runs and passionately spent 3 years Coaching Greene County Pop Warner Football. A very talented Sheetrocker and Spackler, he enjoyed bringing people's visions to life. Lex was always first to stop and lend a helping hand. His family will remember him for always hosting holidays, bringing everyone together, and especially Sundays at home watching the Kansas City Chiefs play football. Calling hours will be held at Cunningham Funeral Home located at 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, NY and are scheduled for Saturday April 25th, 2026 from 3-7 pm with a prayer service at 6pm. “To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering.”
