Georgeann D. Moak Obituary
Georgeann “Jann” D. Moak passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. She was born on November 29, 1929, in Hackensack, New Jersey, to George and Alice Winters. In 1950, she married Earl Moak in Westerlo, New York, where they lived for many years.
Jann was devoted to her faith and community. She worked as a telephone operator early in life and later owned the “Sugar Bowl,” a restaurant known for drawing customers from across the region. She later worked in the Dialysis Unit at Albany Medical Center, where she was dedicated to helping patients feel more comfortable during treatment.
Creative at heart, Jann enjoyed painting, making handmade cards, and running a ceramic shop from her home. If you ever received a card from Jann, you knew it was made with love. She also had several tanks full of beautiful fish and took joy in feeding and identifying birds by their calls. Music was always part of her life—she played the accordion, piano, and organ, and her home was continually filled with music.
Jann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, a sister, and a daughter‑in‑law.
She is survived by her children—Dennis Moak; Stephen (Linda) Moak; Carlotta (Bob) Brainard; Robert (Kendra) Moak; and Robbyn (Eric) Burger—as well as siblings Carolynn Dearstyne and Timothy (Cortney) Winters. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 16 great‑grandchildren.
Philippians 4:4–7 (KJV)
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. *And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
