I would venture to say it's not very often gathering in a funeral home turns into a good time but yesterday was just that. Yes there were tears shed but they were tears of joy from all the special memories of Dennis. The laughs far out numbered the tears and Dennis wouldn't have wanted it any different. Here is a picture of Donald and Debbie. Their wedding was our whole purpose for the "infamous Iowa trip" with Dennis leading the 100 mile an hour record breaking time like Bo Duke. His cleverness, energy, excitement and humor to circumvent the speed limit and authorities will never be forgotten . The picture of Donald and Debbie sums up our time in Iowa. Their a perfect couple, it was a special time full of "stunts" and adventures with some of the best people God ever put on earth. I can easily say it completely changed my outlook on life. We should never take ourselves or life to seriously, live more in the moment and by the seat of our pants just like Dennis Hillicoss. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, this picture is worth more than words, it's priceless. May God bless you Dennis. Keep my mom and dad laughing.

Dennis was a great friend. He was the kind of friend that doesn't come along often. His heart was made of gold, filled with love and had an abundance of and a never ending desire to help everyone who was lucky enough to called his friend. The world is not as bright with his passing. My circle of true friends got smaller and replacing Dennis is not possibe. Always had a smile on his face. Always anxious to bust on you and always there with a smile and an amazing sense of humor. Dennis's ability to operate his machines was second to none, with the machine seemingly being an extension of his own hands. His work and his family and close friends was his life. I will miss him greatly.

Life will never be the same without the presence of Dennis Hillicoss. He was a positive influence, hard worker, intelligent & wise , bluntly honest, loved his family& friends, entertaining, had a vivid memory, faith in God and gave in a humble way more than he ever received. His life long journey was continuing on Manley Hillicoss Excavation with an old school work ethic. Consistently adapting to an ever changing world full of internal and external challenges, Dennis kept moving forward. He was always quick witted ,giving credit to wise men he surrounded himself with throughout the years. His father Manley first and foremost, Uncle Don,my father Neil lll and Guildo Lepage mentored Dennis beginning in his childhood years. My father always said " Dennis was a natural, show him something one time and he doesn't forget, he has what it takes and good head on his shoulders, you never have to worry about Dennis, he'll figure it out". Dennis was very thankful for his mother & father, sisters & brother's and his childhood, he loved them dearly. Daughter Erica was was the gleam in his eyes, the grandkids brought the "big kid " inside him ,out. Fran was one of the best things that ever happened to him. He absolutely loved her. Thirty years had passed since last being in the Hillicoss House. I walked through the same unlocked door. It felt exactly the same. The life ,love, warmth, laughter still existed. I'm thankful for my last visits with Dennis. The memories are priceless. Thank you Fran for taking care of Dennis in his last days, allowing him to pass away peacefully in his home & place of business just like his father Manley. Thank you Stan & Joel for giving Dennis comfort knowing the business was being taken care of. My father always said he should have wrote a book on his times with the Hillicoss family. The title would have been....YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE THIS STORY (S). Dennis probably has Jesus in tears, not from sorrow but from laughter . God's telling him job well done. Life on earth will never be the same without Dennis Hillicoss.

I met Dennis through his daughter, my neighbor, Erica. We quickly realized that his dad had done work at my farm “up north” about a half century ago, and he delighted in telling me he “was only 8 at the time”. He knew his business and as important, he was good for his word, but above all, he loved his family. It was a privilege to have known him.
