DELMAR – Leslie Gene St. Lawrence died peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Gene was born in Schenectady on November 27, 1934 and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Louise Wurzburg St. Lawrence; step-children, Leslie Barkman, Randy and Mary Barkman, Beverly and Jim Moore, Valerie Hotaling, Gary and Debbie Barkman; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Gene was predeceased by his parents, siblings, and sons, Carl Barkman and Mark St. Lawrence.
Gene had a long and distinguished military career, retiring as a Green Beret Master Sergeant who served multiple combat tours in Korea and Vietnam. Gene was the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Medical Badge, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Civil Actions Honor Medal, and Parachute Badge.
Services with honors will be held at a later date at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Bethlehem Memorial VFW Post 3185, 404 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY 12054 will be appreciated. Condolences may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
