HANNACROIX – Rosemary Cecelia (Levix) Whalen, 90, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 14, 2025.

            Rosemary was born in Far Rockaway, NY on June 4, 1935 to William Levix and Rose Ann Higney, both immigrants.  The youngest of four children, Rosie was orphaned by age 8.  She had an extremely difficult childhood and early adulthood, which created in her profound strength, resiliency, and grit.  She relied on these key qualities throughout her life, persevering through being widowed with three small children, surviving cancer four times, and losing her beloved daughter Pamela in 2013.  She was most proud of her family and her home, and she spent her life completely dedicated to the people she loved.

            Rose is survived by the love of her life and dedicated husband, Robert “Bob” Whalen; her sons, Bob (Sherry) Young, Scott (Kerri) Young, and David (Shari) Whalen.  She was the cherished grandmother of Devin (Bryan Ira) Hardin, Toressa (Will) Grimmond, Taylor (Scott) Goodfellow, Robbie, Eda and Scottie Whalen; proud great-grandmother of Chase, William, Drew and Elysia.  At the time of her passing, she was expecting two more great-grandchildren.  Rose is also survived by her first husband, Gustav “Gus” Kalin, who was a friend to both Bob and Rose.  She is predeceased by her daughter, Pamela (Young) Hardin, Richard “Dickie” Young, and her three brothers, Vinny, Andy, and John “Jack” Levix.

            Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 25th from 3 to 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m.  Condolence messages may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
