
Obituary of Ethel M. Stoddard
Ethel M. Stoddard, 88, of South Westerlo, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born in Flushing, NY, Ethel spent her early years in New York City.
She had a long and varied career, including positions as Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Texaco in NYC, Supervisor of Administrative Services at Stiefel Laboratories in Oak Hill, NY and Manager of Member Services for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New York.
Ethel met her future husband of 50 years, David Stoddard, a school teacher and later, Principle of Greenville Elementary, while on a ski trip to the Catskills. They were married in 1968, and built their home in South Westerlo. They were both dog lovers and always had at least one in the residence. Most summer weekends were spent on their sailboat in Lake Champlain.
In their retirement, you could find Ethel and Dave just about everyday at Greenhills Cafe (Frank's, as they called it) in Norton Hill, for lunch or dinner, and to visit with friends.
They were longtime members of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Norton Hill, where Ethel made many lasting friendships.
Ethel was also an accomplished fiber artist, known for her beautifully crafted quilts. She was loved by her family and friends.
Services will be private, with interment at Saratoga National Cemetery.
