Shaw, Robert E.

GREENVILLE – Robert E. Shaw, 88, passed away at home on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

            Bob was born at home in Greenville Center on June 12, 1936, a son of the late James C. and Marion Horton Shaw.  He was a graduate of Greenville Central School, class of 1954.  Bob was employed at the former Pioneer Insurance Company in Greenville, where he met his future wife, Marie Swartout.  They married on June 19, 1955 and were together until Marie predeceased him on May 7, 2017.  Bob then worked at the former Bob’s Mobil Station in Greenville, then was employed for 30 years as a groundskeeper at Catskill Country Club and retired from there.  Bob was a lifelong member and Deacon of Greenville Center Baptist Church, where he kept the lawn mowed and performed many handyman tasks.  He also enjoyed motorcycle riding.

            Bob is survived by his son, Allyn (Mary) Shaw; his sister, Arlene (Russell) DiBello; nieces, Danielle Rothe, Michelle DiBello and Meghan Cardona; several grandnieces and grandnephews.

            Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville.  The funeral will be Thursday, May 1st at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202  will be appreciated.  Condolence page is available at ajcunninghamfh.com.
