Donald Richard McGuirk, 89, of New London, NH, passed away peacefully on April the 14th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on July 31, 1935, in Glens Falls, New York, Donald was the son of William Earl McGuirk and Edna Hazel Petteys McGuirk. A proud graduate of Paul Smith's College, he went on to serve in the 104th Field Artillery of the National Guard. His professional career spanned over three decades as a respected Construction Superintendent in New York from 1963 to 1997.
Donald was a proud and longstanding member of several organizations, including the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 15D since 1961, the National Rifle Association since 1951, and the Barbers Eddy Gun Club since 1961. A true outdoorsman, he found great joy in nature, and was passionate about fishing, hunting, and time spent in the wilderness.
He was a devoted husband to the late Vera McGuirk and a loving father to his son James Wilson. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Linda, his parents William and Edna, his grandson James, and his grandson-in-law Erik. Donald was the cherished grandfather of Thomas, Patricia, Linda Marie, Jaime, Lindsay, Ethan, and Lucas.
A viewing will be held at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, NY, Wednesday April 23rd 5:00 -7:00 PM. A funeral mass at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, NY, Thursday April 24th at 11:00 AM with burial at the Greenville Cemetery to follow.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Donald’s dedicated medical team at Dartmouth Medical Center and the compassionate caregivers from VNA Hospice of Sunapee.
