Obituary of Joanne Dietz
BERNE – It is with great sadness that the family of Joanne Finn Dietz of Berne and Tucson, Arizona, announces her passing on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
Born in Troy on May 5, 1958, Joanne was a daughter of the late Robert J. and Santa M. Laiacona Finn. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Troy and graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy, class of 1976. Joanne worked for 36 years for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.
Joanne loved to travel with her husband across the United States in their RV, and spent the winter months with their friends and second family in Tucson. She also enjoyed trying her luck at many different casinos.
Joanne was an avid baker, taking requests from her family and baking their favorites for special occasions. She and her husband hosted large family Thanksgiving get-togethers for many years. Joanne deeply touched and gave generously to all who knew her, including her large family of aunts, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Joanne leaves behind the love of her life for 45 years, Bradley Dietz; her beloved son, Ryan Dietz and daughter-in-law, Tiffany; sisters, Susan M. Finn and Kathleen M. (Raymond) Wilson; brothers, Robert J. (Jacquelyn) Finn and James S. (Catherine) Finn. In addition to her parents, Joanne is predeceased by her in-laws, and her sister, Christine Finn Gray.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 7th from 4 until 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Saturday, March 8th at 10 a.m. at South Berne Congregational Christian Church, 101 Church Road, South Berne. Spring burial will be in South Berne Cemetery.
