Obituary of James B. Seymour
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James B. Seymour Sr., who peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Jim was 68 years young. Born on April 10, 1956, in Sharon, Connecticut, to the late Robert J. Seymour and Suzanne T. Prager, Jim lived a life filled with dedication, service, and quiet joys. From the rolling hills of Kent, Connecticut, to the vibrant communities of New York – Ancramdale, East Durham, and Greenville – Jim built a life rooted in family and simple pleasures. Jim was a proud Marine, embodying the spirit of "Semper Fidelis" in all that he did. Beyond his service, he found solace and joy in the digital world of video games and the tangible satisfaction of working in his yard. He loved his family and would do whatever he could to make sure everyone was taken care of.
Preceded in death by his sister, Carol (Seymour) Ohmen, and his beloved son, Charles E. Seymour, Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn (Rankel) Seymour; his loving sons, James B. Seymour Jr. and Robert J. Seymour; his daughter, Sharon G. Seymour; and his stepson, Joseph M. D’Ambrosio. Jim's memory will also be lovingly held by his grandchildren, Sabrina, Chelsea, and Cameron Seymour, and great-grandson, Charlie. He is further survived by his siblings, Robert M. Seymour, Katerine S. (Seymour) Osborne, Nina (Seymour) Bennett, Elizabeth A. (Seymour) Shaker, Jacqueline S. (Seymour) Bishop, Henry Clyde Harasymczyk, Frederick J. Harasymczyk, and Henry George Tompkins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss his presence.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Friday, February 28th, beginning at 11 am at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, with Father Kyle Eads officiating. A private burial will immediately follow, offering a moment for quiet reflection and remembrance.
Services have been thoughtfully entrusted to the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home. In this time of sorrow, may we find comfort in the memories we shared with Jim.
