Obituary of Deborah T. Lord

Deborah T. Lord
HANNACROIX – Deborah Turnbull Lord, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Greene Meadows Nursing Center in Catskill.
Born in Harrisburg, PA on September 23, 1936, Debbie was a daughter of the late Brigadier General Hamilton D. South, USMC, and the late Roslyn South, owner of Bear Swamp Antiques in Westerlo. Debbie was an alumna of Salve Regina College in Newport, RI, and attended the University of Florida. She worked with Papert, Koenig, Lois Advertising Agency in New York City. While visiting her parents in Westerlo, she met the late Howard F. Lord, who was there building an addition and fireplace with his father, the late Archie Lord. Debbie quickly chose the rural life over the city, and married Howard to begin their lifetime adventure together. Debbie was an avid homemaker who had a passion for decorating, entertaining, and collecting antiques. Her home was her joy and her boundless energy, coupled with Howard’s carpentry skills, ensured that it was always a beautiful sight to behold! Debbie enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with family and friends, and will be fondly remembered for her cheerful spirit, her enthusiasm for life, and her wonderful sense of humor. Her pretty smile always lit up the room!

Surviving are her three children, Judy B. Bugay of Virginia, Howard F. Lord, III of Hannacroix, and Alexandra A. Lord of Maine, as well as six beloved grandchildren.
At Debbie’s request, there will be no services. Donations in her memory to St. John the Baptist Church of Greenville, c/o 66 William Street, Catskill, NY 12414 will be appreciated.
